SYMPTOMS
When you are running the Windows 2000 File Replication service (FRS), FRS may assert with a "QKey != QUADZERO" error message. The following event is logged in the
NTFRS event log:

Description: The File Replication Service failed a consistency
check (QKey != QUADZERO) in "QHashInsertLock:" at line 696. The File
Replication Service will restart automatically at a later time. If this problem
persists a subsequent entry in this event log describes the recovery procedure.
For more information about the automatic restart right click on My Computer and
then click on Manage, System Tools, Services, File Replication Service, and
Recovery.

After you install this hotfix, you must still perform a non-authoritative restoration for the replica set that experienced the problem.

Troubleshooting Journal_Wrap Errors on Sysvol and DFS Replica Sets
You must perform the non-authoritative restoration because the Inlog table for the replica set might still contain incorrect records. These incorrect records cause the Ntfrs service to continue to assert during the startup process. The non-authoritative restoration process rebuilds the Inlog table.
