FIX: Open Generations May Not Close Under Some Stress Conditions with SQL Server CE Subscribers (328318)

This article was previously published under Q328318 BUG #: 358247 (SHILOH_BUGS) SYMPTOMSWhen SQL Server is running under some stress conditions, the
SQL Server CE subscriber Merge Agent may not close the open generations. As a
result, the replication metadata may have a generation number that is greater
than the open generation that is sent to the SQL Server CE
subscribers.CAUSE This behavior occurs because of the assertion raised by the
Merge Agent under some stress conditions.RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the
latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the

STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in SQL Server 2000
Service Pack 3.
