Custom Install Wizard does not install Office XP programs as you expect (328236)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office XP Professional
- Microsoft Office XP Standard
- Microsoft Office XP Developer
This article was previously published under Q328236 SYMPTOMS When you try to install Office XP by using the Custom
Install Wizard, the Office programs may not install as you expect.
CAUSE Office XP uses Intelligent Setup to detect the installation
state of your currently-installed features. When you configure the Office
Custom Install Wizard to install or not install an Office program, the wizard
may not perform as you expect. This occurs because Intelligent Setup is
mirroring the current state of the same program from a previous Office
installation. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, start Office XP Setup with the
migration of feature state turned off:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box type
D:\[path]\setup.exe
NOFEATURESTATEMIGRATION=1
TRANSFORMS=X:\[path]\YourTransformFile.mst /l*v
c:\OLXP.log, and then press ENTER, where
D:\[path] is the drive with the Office XP Setup
files and X:\[path] is the location of your
Transform (.mst) file.
