SYMPTOMS

If you point to Tracking on the Tools menu, and then click Reschedule uncompleted work to start after to update a project plan for a date in the future in Microsoft Project 2002, you may receive the following message in the Planning Wizard dialog box: Microsoft Project did not reschedule certain unstarted tasks with a constraint date applied to them.

If you want to find these tasks in order to reschedule them, from the Project menu, point to Filtered For, click More Filters, select the Should Start By Filter, and then enter the same date as was entered in the Rescheduled Uncompleted Work to Start After date field in the Update Project dialog box. Then change the constraint dates of the filtered tasks using the Task Information dialog box.

To allow Microsoft Project to reschedule the tasks for you, set the task's constraint type to As Soon As Possible, and try you Update Project operation again. If you click OK in the message, the tasks are not rescheduled to the requested start date.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the project plan contains one or more tasks that has the Start No Earlier Than option turned on for the constraint type.
