XL2002: Menu Options for the AccessLinks Add-in Program Disappear (327767)

SYMPTOMS

After you install the AccessLinks add-in program and then restart Excel, the menu options for the add-in do not appear on the Data menu.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if Word incorrectly adds these commands to the Office 2000 (9.0) registry key, instead of to the Office XP (10.0) key.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Excel\Init Commands

  4. On the File menu, click Export.
  5. Type a name for the export file, and then save it to the desktop.
  6. Quit Registry Editor.
  7. Right-click the registry file that you exported to the desktop, and then click Edit.
  8. On the Edit menu, click Replace.
  9. In the Find what box, type 9.0.
  10. In the Replace with box, type 10.0, and then click Replace All.
  11. Save the changes, and then close the editor.
  12. Double-click the file to import it to the registry, and then click Yes to confirm the import.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
