This article lists the bugs that are fixed in Microsoft Windows Installer Version 2.0.2600. Because the bug fixes are cumulative, bugs that are fixed in one version are also fixed in subsequent versions.

The following are the bug fixes that are included in Windows Installer Version 2.0.2600:
  • Removal of the permanent components by using the Windows 95/98 Windows Installer version 2.0.2600.0 does not honor permanent components on Windows 95 or Windows 98.

UNICODE Version

  • You receive a 1619 error when you install from a locked-down NTFS file system directory.

Windows Installer 2.0.2600.2

This version of Windows Installer was provided as a redistributable package for both the Windows 95/98 and the Windows NT operating systems.
  • On Windows 2000 systems, Instmsi.exe installs Mspatcha.dll through an exception pack. Install Mspatcha.dll version 5.1.2600.0 with exception INF on Windows 2000 systems.
  • The Browse button does not work in the Windows Installer Browse dialog box for operating systems that are earlier than Windows 2000.

  • You receive a 1619 error when you install from a locked-down NTFS directory.
  • Assembly registration is removed prematurely during the removal of shared components.
  • Writing to NTFS-protected shares does not work correctly for .ini files that use the IniFile table.
  • MsiGetShortcutTarget does not respond in Windows 95/98 when it tries to access the path of some shortcuts.
