INFO: If You Change Commerce Server Stored Procedures, the Installation Is No Longer Supported (326755)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
- Microsoft Commerce Server 2000
This article was previously published under Q326755 SUMMARYIf you change any stored procedures that Commerce Server
2000 or 2002 sets up, you put the whole installation in an unsupported state.
If you have to have technical support, and you have customized the
installation, it may be determined that Microsoft cannot provide
support.
There are many reasons that Microsoft does not support this
practice. To customize the product can have varying results that range from
making the product unstable only under specific conditions, to breaking
Commerce Server completely. Another important note is that when a service pack
updates a stored procedure, the newer copy overwrites the customized stored
procedure, which removes any customizations. Also, if you experience problems
because of changes that you have made to stored procedures, Microsoft Product
Support Services cannot help you to make any additional changes to restore the
product to its original state.
