Error Message When You Run the Norton SystemWorks 2002 "One Button Checkup" Feature (326689)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Norton SystemWorks 2002 "One Button Checkup" feature on your Windows XP-based computer, you may receive the following error message:

An error has occurred in the script on this page

CAUSE

This issue may occur if an earlier version of the Scanwrap.dll file exists on your computer during the installation of Norton SystemWorks 2002.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Under Currently installed programs, click Norton SystemWorks, and then click Remove.
  4. Run the Symantec "SymClean" utility. For information about how to obtain and use the SymClean utility, visit the following Symantec Web site:
  5. If the SymClean utility indicates that there are no programs to remove (there are no programs listed after you click Continue), rename the Scanwrap.dll to Scanwrap.old. For information about how to locate a file, view Windows Help. To rename a file, right-click the file, click Rename, type the new file name, and then press ENTER.
  6. Install Norton SystemWorks 2002.
