SUMMARY

In Money 2002, you can use an alias to rename a payee on a statement or transaction. An incorrect alias may cause monthly account statements that are downloaded from a financial institution to be mismatched.

To correct a payee alias error, use the following methods in the order that they are presented.

Turn Off the Alias Feature

  1. In Money 2002, click Options on the Tools menu.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Online Services tab.
  3. In the downloading statements pane, click to clear the Replace downloaded payee names with user-altered names when available check box, and then click OK.

    The payee name appears unaltered on your next download.

Locate and Edit the Mismatched Statements

  1. Click Account List, and then click each account.
  2. Note any transactions that are not matched correctly. Transactions that are not matched correctly may indicate that the payees are not aliased correctly.
  3. Click the mismatched or unmatched transactions, and then click Change.

    In each account, correct the errors in each transaction.
  4. When all the transactions in an account are correct, click Accept all transactions.

    When you download your next statement, the matching error will not occur.

Turn On the Alias Feature

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Online Services tab.
  3. In the downloading statements pane, click to select the Replace downloaded payee names with user-altered names when available check box, and then click OK.

    This issue is corrected the next time that you create an alias for a payee.
