FIX: An access violation occurs when a cursor is defined on a query that has nested subqueries (325720)

SYMPTOMS

When you use SQL Server 7.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4), you might experience a handled EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION while defining a keyset cursor on a query that contains nested subqueries.

When you run the same query in SQL Server 2000, you receive the following error message:
Server: Msg 8624, Level 16, State 23, Line 2 Internal SQL Server error.

RESOLUTION

SQL Server 7.0

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3.
