SYMPTOMS

When you use Network Monitor to start a capture and the disk quota is configured with the default value, you may receive the following error message:
Drive C: has insufficient space to allow Network Monitor to open a network.

CAUSE

This problem may occur because Network Monitor behaves like a default user (not an administrator) in relation to disk quota. Because of this, the default user disk quota of one megabyte (MB) applies.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, configure the disk quota to be more than 1 MB for the user who wants to run Network Monitor.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
