Session Summary

During this Support WebCast, we will introduce a new and exciting feature of the Microsoft .NET common language runtime, the runtime profiling API. This API introduces, to the developer, the ability to obtain detailed information directly from the common language runtime about managed code during execution. We will discuss the common language runtime profiling interfaces, how to implement them, and how to use the implementation to log and analyze some basic runtime data from a managed code module. Among the runtime data that we'll examine are common language runtime startup and shutdown, application domain creation and shutdown, as well as managed and unmanaged code transitions. The material in this presentation is intended as a practical startup guide to the common language runtime profiling API.

This is a Level 200 session that was recorded February 28, 2002 and presented by Brian Dowds. Brian Dowds is a Microsoft Visual C++ Developer Support Professional and has been with Microsoft for more than five years. He is an instructor on the subject of Win32 User Mode Debugging, and has developed and delivered symbolic debugging tech talks to Microsoft internal, partner, and customer audiences during the last two years.
