This article was previously published under Q324344 SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You want to view the
properties of the Internet Mail Service from a server that is running Microsoft
Exchange Server 5.5. However, the properties of the Internet Mail Service do not exist on the server that is running Exchange Server 5.5.
When
you try to view the properties of the Internet Mail Service, you receive the
following error messages. Error message 1 Extension SMTP could not be loaded. A
problem occurred with the extension .DLL file, possibly due to memory shortage.
Close some applications or windows, and try again.
Microsoft Exchange
Administrator ID no: c10312c6 Error message 2 Extension 'SMTP' could not be loaded. The
specified module could not be found.
Microsoft Windows NT ID no:
0xc002007e CAUSE This issue can be caused by a problem with the network basic
input/output system (NetBIOS) name resolution or with the Windows Internet Name
Service (WINS) name resolution. These name resolution problems prevent a
connection to the Exchange server on which the Internet Mail Service
resides.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, correct the NetBT or WINS name
resolution problem
that is
preventing the connection to the Exchange server on which the Internet Mail
Service resides. Use the following methods to determine
whether the problem is with the NetBT name
resolution or
with the WINS name resolution: - Try to map a drive to the Exchange server on which the
Internet Mail Service resides.
- Examine your WINS server database for incorrect or outdated
static mappings.
