PRB: "Error 1904" Error Message Is Generated During Commerce Server 2002 Setup (323093)

SYMPTOMS

During the installation of Commerce Server 2002, you receive the following error message:
Error 1904. Module "Path that includes Unicode characters".dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147467259. Contact your support personnel.

CAUSE

During the installation of Commerce Server 2002, if pure Unicode characters exist in the installation path, the setup program cannot register the dynamic-link library (DLL).

WORKAROUND

Do not use an installation path that contains pure Unicode characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Commerce Server 2002.
