Works: Error Message: Wkscal Has Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Msjtes40.dll (321740)

This article was previously published under Q321740 SYMPTOMS When you start your computer after you install Microsoft
Works Suite 2002, Microsoft Works Suite 2001, or Microsoft Works 6, you may
receive the following error message: Wkscal has caused an
invalid page fault in Msjtes40.dll. CAUSE This issue may occur if the Microsoft Data Access
Components (MDAC) or the Microsoft Jet Database components are missing or are
corrupted. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, install MDAC from the Microsoft
Works CD-ROM or from the Microsoft Download Center. To do this, use one of the
following methods. Method 1: Install MDAC from the Works CD-ROMNote Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Insert the Works Suite Disc 1 CD-ROM or the Works 6 CD-ROM
in your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. If the Setup program starts
automatically, quit Setup.
- Click Start, point to
Search, and then click All files and
folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box,
type Mdac_typ.exe.
- In the Look in box, select the computer's
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then click Search Now.
- In the list of found files, right-click
Mdac_typ.exe, and then click Copy.
- Right-click an empty area of the Windows desktop, and then
click Paste.
- Restart your computer in Safe mode.
- On the desktop, double-click Mdac_typ.exe,
and then follow the instructions to install the MDAC update.
- To download and install the Jet Database driver components,
follow steps 7 through 11 in the "Method 2" section of this article.
- Restart your computer in normal mode.
If you are using a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, or
if you cannot install MDAC in Safe mode from the Works CD-ROM, go to Method 2. Method 2: Method 2: Install MDAC and the Jet DatabaseNote Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Visit the following Microsoft Web site to download the
latest version of MDAC:
- Under MCDAC 2.7 RTM Refresh, click
Read the MDAC 2.7 RTM Refresh release details.
- Read the end-user license agreement (EULA) for MDAC 2.7 RTM
- Refresh (2.70.9001.0).
- Select the language version that you want from the list at
the bottom of the page.
- To install or download the file, click Go to
Download.
- Follow the instructions to complete the installation
process.
- On the Microsoft Universal Data Access Download page, click
the link to download the latest version of the Jet Database drivers.
- Click the language that you want to use from the list, and
then click Go to Download.
- Click Open.
- Follow the instructions to complete the installation
process.
- Restart your computer.
