SYMPTOMS

When you start your computer after you install Microsoft Works Suite 2002, Microsoft Works Suite 2001, or Microsoft Works 6, you may receive the following error message:
Wkscal has caused an invalid page fault in Msjtes40.dll.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) or the Microsoft Jet Database components are missing or are corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install MDAC from the Microsoft Works CD-ROM or from the Microsoft Download Center. To do this, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Install MDAC from the Works CD-ROM

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Insert the Works Suite Disc 1 CD-ROM or the Works 6 CD-ROM in your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. If the Setup program starts automatically, quit Setup.
  2. Click Start, point to Search, and then click All files and folders.
  3. In the All or part of the file name box, type Mdac_typ.exe.
  4. In the Look in box, select the computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then click Search Now.
  5. In the list of found files, right-click Mdac_typ.exe, and then click Copy.
  6. Right-click an empty area of the Windows desktop, and then click Paste.
  7. Restart your computer in Safe mode.
  8. On the desktop, double-click Mdac_typ.exe, and then follow the instructions to install the MDAC update.
  9. To download and install the Jet Database driver components, follow steps 7 through 11 in the "Method 2" section of this article.
  10. Restart your computer in normal mode.
If you are using a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, or if you cannot install MDAC in Safe mode from the Works CD-ROM, go to Method 2.
