You are prompted to insert the Works Suite 2000 CD when you try to start Streets & Trips (321128)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Microsoft Streets & Trips, you are prompted to insert the Microsoft Works Suite 2002 CD.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you installed Streets & Trips by using the typical or minimum Microsoft Works Suite installation, which includes a standard installation of Streets & Trips. The standard installation does not copy the map files from the CD to your hard disk. Only the full installation of Streets & Trips copies the map files.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, perform a full installation of Streets & Trips. To do this, do one of the following:
  • If Streets & Trips is not installed on your computer, go to the "Install Streets & Trips" section to install it.
  • If Streets & Trips is installed on your computer, first complete the "Remove Streets & Trips" procedure to remove it, and then go to the "Install Streets & Trips" section to reinstall it.

Remove Streets & Trips

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Streets & Trips 2002, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Next, click Remove, and then click Next.
  5. Click Remove.
  6. When the removal is complete, click Finish.

Install Streets & Trips

After you remove Streets & Trips, or if it was never installed, use either of the following methods to perform a full installation.

Method 1: Streets & Trips Setup

  1. Insert the Microsoft Works Suite 2002 Disc 2 into your CD drive or DVD drive.
  2. Click Start, click Run type drive:\msmap\data.msi in the Open box, and then click OK.

    In this example, drive is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive.
  3. Click Next, and then click Next.
  4. Click Full installation, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the installation.

Method 2: Works Setup

  1. Insert the Microsoft Works Suite 2002 Disc 1 into your CD drive or DVD drive.
  2. Click Start, click Run type drive:\setup.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.

    In this example, drive is the drive letter of your CD drive or DVD drive.
  3. Click Custom.
  4. Quit any open programs, and then click Continue.
  5. Click Microsoft Streets & Trips, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the installation.
