Defrag.exe Displays Incorrect Usage or Help Messages in Swedish Windows XP (320822)

SYMPTOMS

If you type defrag.exe /? to display the Help for the Defrag.exe tool, Defrag displays incorrect characters for the usage and Help messages. This problem occurs only in Swedish Windows XP.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the output buffer that is allocated in Defrag.exe is too small to contain the usage and Help messages in Swedish Windows XP. The hotfix that is mentioned in this article increases the buffer to handle the usage and Help messages.

RESOLUTION
