SYMPTOMS
When you try to edit an embedded Microsoft Visio 2002 object
in either Microsoft WordPad or Microsoft Word 2002, you may receive the
following error message:
This action cannot be completed
because the other program is busy. Choose Switch to, Retry or Cancel to
activate the busy program and correct the problem.
This update or security patch was first included in Microsoft Visio 2002 Service Pack 2.

Part 1: Download and install the hotfix
A supported hotfix is now
available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that
is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing
this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore,
if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you
wait for the next Microsoft Office XP service pack that contains this
hotfix.

Part 2: Activate the hotfix
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To activate this hotfix, follow these steps:
- In Visio, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Advanced tab.
- Click to select the Put all settings in Windows registry check box, and then click OK.
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visio\application
- Right-click OLESvrFeatureMgmt, and then
click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type
0, and then click OK.
- On the File menu, click
Exit to exit Registry Editor.
