SYMPTOMS

When you use a Visual Studio add-in for Visual SourceSafe 6.0c that is written in one of the Visual Studio .NET languages, you may receive the following error message and other error messages:
Microsoft Visual SourceSafe
Invalid access code (bad parameter).
If you use the source control integration with the Visual Studio .NET integrated development environment (IDE), Visual Studio may stop responding (crash) when you close the IDE.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0.

This bug was corrected in Visual Studio .NET 2003.
