SUMMARY

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET is available in the following two versions:
  • A non-upgrade version that you can install on any compatible computer
  • An upgrade version that requires one of the following:
    • A qualifying product must be installed on your computer.
    • The installation media from the qualifying product must be available when you run the Setup program.
This article lists the products that qualify you to use the upgrade version of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. The non-upgrade version does not require a qualifying product.

There are no upgrades available to the Standard editions or from the Standard editions.
