SUMMARY

This article describes how to turn on subject logging for the Microsoft Exchange Conferencing Service.

MORE INFORMATION

The Exchange Conferencing Service provides administrators with an audit logging feature that can capture information such as client connections and administrative conference modifications. By default, however, the subject line of each successfully booked data conference is not added to the Data Conferencing Service (DCS) audit log when a client successfully joins. The DCS log is in the following location:

\\servername\servername.ecs

To turn on this functionality, the Conference Management Service must exist on a computer that also has the Messaging and Collaboration service installed. After you verify that the Conference Management Service and the Messaging and Collaboration service are installed on the same computer, turn on subject logging in the message tracking log. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Start Exchange System Manager.
  2. Move through the Exchange organization tree until you locate the container labeled Servers.NOTE: The Servers container can be at the top level if no administrative groups are defined or displayed. If administrative groups are defined or displayed, the Servers container is located in the relevant administrative group container.

  3. Expand the Servers container to see the list of servers.
  4. Click the server on which you want to turn on tracking.
  5. Right-click Server, and then click Properties.
  6. On the General tab, click to select the Enable subject logging and display check box.

After you turn on subject logging, the subject line of each successfully joined conference is reflected in the DCS audit log.
