The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.1
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2 SP1
This article was previously published under Q317833 SYMPTOMS
Your modifications to objects that are in the metadirectory may not work, and the following error entry may be recorded in the \Zoomserv\Data\Logs\Genlogs file:
ERR_00 078C datetime (DB5_verifyOIDField) Oid field [ 2.16.128.113533.2.100] for [favoriteColour] has spaces
CAUSE
This issue may be caused by the presence of one or more spaces in the OID definition. In the error entry that is included in the "Symptoms" section of this article, the space is between the opening square bracket and the first digit of the OID. Any spaces (leading, trailing, or
embedded) cause the rejection of the OID string and the subsequent failure of any attribute addition or modification that involves this attribute.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- Use Compass to log on to Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) as an administrator.
- Use the Search option in the left pane to search for the name of the attribute or object definition. In the error entry that is included in the "Symptoms" section of this article, it is favoriteColour.
- The match is displayed directly below the Search dialog box, and includes a blue sphere as an icon. Double-click the match to display its properties.
- The current OID value for this attribute is displayed in the OID dialog box. You may double-click the value to select the string and make any spaces easier to see.
- Remove all of the spaces that are in the OID string, and then click OK.
MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft recommends that you regularly review the \Zoomserv\Data\Gogs\Genlogs file for the presence of any non-fatal errors and warnings.
