SUMMARY

This article explains how to turn off the License Logging Service.

MORE INFORMATION

As stated in the Microsoft Exchange Per Seat licensing agreement, any client computer that connects to an Exchange server must have a Client Access License (CAL). However, even though you have purchased an ample number of licenses, you may find that sometimes there are events recorded in the Event Viewer stating that you are out of licenses. To prevent these events from being recorded, you can turn off the licensing service.

NOTE: You may have to temporarily turn on the License Logging Service when you install programs that have to record information in the license database. After the program is installed, you can turn off the licensing service again.

To turn off the License Logging Service on the server, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. Right-click License Logging Service, and then click Stop.
  3. Right-click License Logging Service, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the General tab, and then click Disabled under Startup type.
