PRB: An Unexpected Vartype Is Returned in the Sharedfns.bas Administration Database (316534)

SYMPTOMS

After you apply Commerce Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), the following event log error occurs:
"Commerce Server: Unexpected vartype encountered in admin database Sharedfns.bas: ConvertVarToVt2"
When you look at the log files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Commerce Server\SP2\backup\, you see an "Exception Occurred" error in the catalog migration log file (SP_Catalog_Migration.log).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you have the English version of Windows 2000 Server with the locale set to German.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must manually change the value Falsch to False and Wahr to True.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
