SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to open a Web site, you may receive the following error message:
Cannot open webpage because cookies are not enabled.
Enable cookies and then retry.
You receive this message regardless of the security settings that you selected.
CAUSE
This problem can occur because AdSubract from interMute, Inc. has been installed on your computer. This software utility blocks ads and filters cookies.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, remove AdSubtract. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click AdSubtract, and then click Add/Remove. Follow the instructions to completely remove AdSubtract from your computer.
WORKAROUND
To disable AdSubtract but not remove it, right-click the AdSubtract icon in the notification area, and then click Exit.
