IntelliMouse: IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 Is Detected Incorrectly As Three-Button Mouse or Other Mouse (314388)

If you connect IntelliMouse Explorer to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, the mouse may be detected incorrectly as a different mouse (usually a generic three-button mouse). This issue occurs with Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when you use Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 4.0.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, do one of the following:
- Connect the mouse to the PS/2 port.

- Download and install the updated IntelliPoint software version 4.01. To do this, see the following Microsoft Web site:
