To troubleshoot and resolve this behavior, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

Method 1: Open a Different Project or Create a New Project

Open a different project, or create a new project.

If you do not receive the error message that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article when you open a different project or create a new project, your original project may be damaged. In this situation, recreate your e-mail project or Web project.

If you receive the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article when you open a different project or create a new project, your original project is probably not damaged. In this situation, follow the steps in Method 2.

Method 2: Reinstall Home Publishing

Rename the Mmedit.dll file, and then reinstall Home Publishing. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

  2. Quit Home Publishing (if it is running).
  3. Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
  4. In the Search for files or folders named box, type mmedit.dll, and then click Search Now.

The Mmedit.dll file is located in the following folder on your hard disk, where C is the drive in which Windows is installed:

NOTE: This is the default installation location. If you installed Home Publishing to a different location, the Mmedit.dll file is located in a different location on your hard disk.
  5. In the Search Results list, right-click Mmedit.dll, and then click Rename.
  6. Type mmedit.old, and then press ENTER.
  7. Insert your Home Publishing CD into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key as you insert the CD to prevent the program from starting automatically.
