SUMMARY

This step-by-step article describes how to delete a user profile from a local computer. If you use this method, you delete the %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Username folder that contains the user's My Documents folder, desktop settings, Start menu, favorites, and cookies. This method also deletes the profile from the ProfileList key in the registry.

This procedure does not remove a user's ability to log back on to the same computer. Doing so creates a new %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Username folder. This does not re-create the user's previous documents, desktop settings, Start menu, favorites, and cookies.
