BUG: Document Validation Fails When Target Namespace Property Exists in a Non-XML Document Specification (312700)

When you use the BizTalk Editor, if there is a value for the Target Namespace property on the Reference tab of a non-XML document specification, document instances may fail to validate against the specification and you may receive an error similar to the following when you attempt document validation:
The XML document has failed validation for the following reason:
Validate failed because the root element had no associated DTD/schema.
CAUSE
In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000, if you create an XML specification that specifies the Target Namespace property, and then change the specification to a non-XML standard, the Target Namespace value remains.
RESOLUTION
Clear the Target Namespace property for any non-XML document specification.
STATUSThis bug was corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002. MORE INFORMATION
BizTalk Server 2002 does not display a Target Namespace property for non-XML documents.
