Administrative Tools Installation Fails on a FAT or FAT32 Volume (312100)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Mobile Information Server 2002 Setup and click the Administrative Tools component, you may receive the following error message:
The volume that you have selected for MIS installation is not NTFS. You must install MIS onto an NTFS volume.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, convert the volume to an NTFS file system volume, and then install Administrative Tools.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
