SYMPTOMS

If a file has more than 256 links, only the first 256 links may be shown. For example, if you create 300 links to a file and then complete an ls -l, you see all 300 links. After you reboot the SFU computer, you see 256 links. The other 44 links appear as normal files instead of links.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
