SYMPTOMS

When you use your compact disc (CD) creator program to create a CD, you may receive the following error message:
Drive not ready.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when the drive letters that are assigned to the compact disc-rewritable (CD-RW) drive and the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive are reversed in the CD creator program.

For example, the CD-RW drive may be listed as drive D and the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive may be listed as drive E when you view the drives in My Computer. However, when you view the drives in the CD creator program, the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM is listed as drive D and the CD-RW drive is listed as drive E.
