ENT2001: E-Mail Attachments Are Sent MIME-Encoded When Preferences Are Set to AppleDouble (311130)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q311130 SYMPTOMS
In Entourage 2001 for Mac, you may discover that your e-mail attachments are being sent in MIME-encoded format, even though your preferences are set to AppleDouble.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the e-mail account is damaged. This damage can occur when information from an earlier mail client is imported for use in Entourage, causing the header information to expose the attachment in its encoded form rather than as a separate, usable entity that travels along with the message.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
- Double-click the affected account, and then click the Options tab.
- Click anywhere in the Header box, and then press DEL three or four times, even if the box appears empty.
- Click OK.
If the preceding steps do not resolve this issue, delete the account, and then reconfigure the account manually. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Accounts, and then double-click the affected account.
- On a piece of paper or in a separate document, record all of the account information that appears on the Account Settings tab.
- Click Cancel.
- Select the account, click Delete, and then click Yes.
- Click New, and then click Configure account manually.
- In the Account type pop-up list, click the appropriate type of account, and then click OK.
- Type the information that you recorded in step 2, click OK, and then close the Accounts window.
