SYMPTOMS

When you quit Microsoft Internet Explorer on an Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) client computer, you are not prompted to disconnect. The dial-up connection on the ICS host computer remains connected.

If you quit Internet Explorer on the ICS host computer, you are prompted to disconnect from a dial-up connection.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The communication between the ICS host and client is a network-style peer-to-peer connection without Dial-Up Networking involved. Therefore, ICS does not disconnect the dial-up connection on the ICS host.

When you quit Internet Explorer on the ICS host, it communicates to the local dial-up connection and you are prompted to disconnect from the dial-up connection.
