SUMMARY

The System Properties dialog box displays basic information about your computer, including the computer's processor speed. However, the value for the processor speed in this dialog box may differ slightly from the manufacturer's specification.

MORE INFORMATION

The value that is listed in the System Properties dialog box refers to the current speed of the CPU and not the processor's maximum speed. Because of minor variations in clock frequencies for the CPU and system bus, the current speed may differ from the maximum speed. For example, if the processor's speed is listed as 850MHz, the System Properties dialog box may display the CPU speed as 849MHz, 848MHz, or possibly lower.
