Fax Client Dialing Rules Not Being Applied When Small Business Server 2000 Dials (310786)

When you try to use the Outlook 2000 address book to send a fax from Microsoft Word, the Microsoft Small Business Server incorrectly dials local numbers with the area code prefix.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior for new contacts that you are adding to the address book, follow these steps:
- Start Outlook, and then open a contact in the address book.
- On the Actions menu, click Call Contact, and then click New Call.
- Click Dialing Options.
- Click Automatically Add Country Code to Local Phone Numbers, click OK, and then click Close.
- Save and close the contact.
To resolve this problem with existing contacts, first follow the steps for new contacts, and then continue with the following steps:
- Open the Contacts folder.
- On the File menu, click Import and Export.
- Click Export to a file, and then click Next.
- Click Comma Separated Values (DOS), and then click Next. Follow the instructions in the Import and Export Wizard. These steps create a backup copy of your contacts.
- On the Edit menu, click Select All, and then press DELETE to move your current contacts into the Deleted Items folder within Outlook.
- On the File menu, click Import and Export.
- Click Import from another program or file.
- Click Comma Separated Values (DOS), and then click Next.
- In File to import, click Browse, and then browse to the file that you exported.
- Follow the instructions in the Import and Export Wizard.
