After you plug your Microsoft SideWinder game controller into your computer's universal serial bus (USB) port, you may notice that it steers sharply to one side when you play a game. As a result, you may need to steer in the opposite direction to move in a straight line during game play.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you plug the game controller into your computer's USB port while the steering wheel is turned sharply to one side or (if you are using a Microsoft SideWinder game pad) while one of the buttons on the directional keypad is pressed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate to your game controller.
Method 1: Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel- Unplug the game controller from your computer's USB port.
- Center the steering wheel.
- Plug the game controller back in to the USB port.
Method 2: Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad- Shut down your computer.
- Ensure that the directional keypad is centered.
- Restart your computer.
