When you try to gain access to a child domain controller from the parent domain, you may receive the following error message:
Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect.
CAUSE
This error message can occur if two computers have the same computer name. One computer is located in the child domain; the other computer is located in the parent domain.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, rename one of the computers, or delete the machine account on the parent domain.
