Device Appears to Hang When You Push a Button Configured to Start a Program and the Device Is Sleeping (309824)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE Operating System, Versions 3.0
  • Microsoft Pocket PC 2002

This article was previously published under Q309824

SYMPTOMS

When you push a button that you have configured to start a program, if your device is sleeping, the device may appear to stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

The button is configured to point to an .lnk file, which is a shortcut to a program that is installed into a folder that is based outside of the device's internal RAM. Because of the powered-off state of the device, the device has not yet initialized any external cards or add-ons, and this can cause the device to appear to hang.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, move the program to a folder location that is based in the RAM of the device.
