XADM: Cluster Resources Associate User with Old Virtual Server Name and Mailbox Store (309782)

When a user is logged on to a mailbox while an administrator deletes and re-creates Exchange Server cluster resources with a new virtual machine network name, the user information on the Exchange Server general page continues to associate the user with the old virtual server network name and mailbox store. Additionally, the old virtual server is not completely removed from the Active Directory. This behavior occurs even though you expect Exchange Server to detect the fact that the user is still logged on, disconnect the user, and then delete the user's mailbox.
NOTE: The mailboxes of all users who are not logged on (while you are deleting and re-creating the cluster resources) are deleted as expected.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, direct all users to log off before you delete Exchange Server resources on, and change the network names of, the virtual servers.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
