SYMPTOMS

While you are administering Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a server that has a single processor, you may find that the server periodically stops responding for a minute or two. The server then resumes normal operation.

Event Viewer may display the following events in the Application log:
Event ID: 1160
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event Category: General
Description: Database resource failure error New Storage Group\First New Mailbox Store occurred in function JTAB_BASE::EcConfig while accessing the database "0xfffffc0b".
Event ID: 1025
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store
Event Category: General
Description: An error occurred on database "New Storage Group\First New Mailbox Store". Function name or description of problem: SLINK::EcUpdate Error: 0xfffffc0b

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
