SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Outlook Mobile Manager to connect to a Microsoft Mobile Information Server server, and you try to send a test message you may receive the following error message:
The Mobile Information Server specified is a different edition than the type selected.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Asp.dll file is turned off on the 'mmisver' virtual directory on the Mobile Information Server server.
Outlook Mobile Manager uses the 'mmisver' virtual directory on the Mobile Information Server server to determine the server version. For the 'mmisver' virtual directory to properly reply with the server version, you must turn on the Asp.dll file on the virtual directory.
NOTE: By default, the file is turned on.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, turn on the Asp.dll file on the 'mmisver' virtual directory if it has been turned off: - Click Start, click Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then expand the Internet Services Manager snap-in.
- Expand the Default Web Site.
- Right-click the 'mmisver' virtual directory, and then click Properties.
- On the Virtual Directory tab, click Create.
- Type mmisver as the program name, and then click Configuration.
- Click Add, and then locate the following folder:
C:\Winnt\System32\Inetsrv\Asp.dll
- In the Extension box, type ASP.
- Click All Verbs, and then click to select the Script Engine check box.
- Click OK to close all of the properties dialog boxes.
- Start Internet Information Server (IIS), or restart IIS if it is already running.
