An Access Violation Occurs in Quartz.dll If You Use Multiple Video Adapters (309670)

SYMPTOMS

If your computer has more than one video adapter, an access violation may occur in Quartz.dll when the adapters are stopped.

CAUSE

NetMeeting was not designed for multiple video adapters. This problem occurs with DirectX and DirectShow 8.1-based programs that have two capture filters.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Windows 2000

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, stop the video adapters in the order in which they were started.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
