SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) logging setting Use local time for file naming and rollover cannot be used with Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 and Commerce Server 2002.

RESOLUTION

Commerce Server 2000 and Commerce Server 2002 require that log files must be in W3C Extended Log File Format and logged as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). This means the Use local time for file naming and rollover option cannot be used with Commerce Server 2000.

The Use local time for file naming and rollover option is available under the Web site (or Web application) properties for logging. When logging is enabled and W3C extended log file format is selected, click Properties. The Use local time for file naming and rollover option is located in the middle of the window.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

If the Use local time for file naming and rollover check box is selected (checked) on the log file property page in the Internet Service Manager, the log files are rolled over at local time zone rather than GMT.

You can set TimeZone in the Data Warehouse properties (Time tab) in Global Resources. However, there is no option for checking the file name and rollover option. Therefore, when you import the log files to day n, day n+1 does not appear in the list of available log files for import (View Log Files in Web-log import DTS task).
