This article provides an overview of the minimum system requirements to run the full range of the programs included in Microsoft Works Suite 2002.

To run Works Suite 2002, you need all of the following:
  • A multimedia computer with a Pentium 200-megahertz (MHz)-or-higher processor (300-MHz processor recommended).
  • The Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP operating system installed on your computer.
  • 32 megabytes (MB) of RAM for Windows 98 and Windows Me (64 MB recommended).
  • 64 MB of RAM for Windows 2000 or later.
  • At least 975 MB of available hard-disk space for the typical installation of all the Works Suite 2001 programs. Custom installations may require more or less hard-disk space.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 browser software is required and included. Up to an additional 90 MB of hard-disk space may be required for an Internet Explorer upgrade. This installation does not replace your primary Web browser.
  • A quad-speed-or-higher CD-ROM drive.
  • A Super VGA monitor (800 x 600 dots per inch [dpi], 16-bit color or better).
  • 1 MB of video RAM.
  • A Microsoft Mouse-or-compatible pointing device.
  • Sound output capability, with speakers or headphones, is recommended.
  • Some features require an Internet connection.

    NOTE: Access to, and use of, the Internet may require payment of a separate fee to an Internet service provider (ISP). Local and long distance telephone charges may apply.
  • Some features require Microsoft Passport.
Optional:
  • A 28.8-kilobits-per-second (Kbps)-or-faster modem, and Internet access for functionality of Internet-based features.
  • A microphone for voice recording.
  • Microsoft Exchange Server, Internet SMTP/POP3, IMAP4, or other Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI)-compliant messaging software for e-mail functionality.
Microsoft Picture It! Photo is compatible with the following:
  • Most digital cameras, scanners, printers, and storage devices.
  • MIX, JPG, PCD, TIG, WMF, BMP, CDR, GIF, FPX, PCX, PNX, TGA, and other file formats.
