Works Suite: Word Is Missing from the Task Launcher (309499)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Microsoft Works Suite, Microsoft Word and its tasks are missing from the Works Task Launcher.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have upgraded to the newest version of Works Suite from an earlier version, such as Microsoft Works Suite 99.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, do a custom installation of Word. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Microsoft Works Suite Disk 1.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type:

    d:\setup.exe

    where d is the drive letter of your CD-ROM player.
  4. Click Custom.
  5. If you have to, quit other programs, and then click Continue.
  6. Click Microsoft Word, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
If you find that you already have Microsoft Word installed and the tasks are still not appearing, follow these steps.

Install Word in Works Suite Add-in

  1. Insert Microsoft Works Suite Disk 1.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type:

    d :\Wordadd\setup.exe

    where d is the drive letter of your CD-ROM player.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Follow the instructions onscreen.
