HP OfficeJet T-Series Multi-Function Device May Not Respond (309434)

After you install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may experience the following symptoms with your Hewlett-Packard (HP) OfficeJet T-series multifunction device:
- The device may stop functioning.
- Installation of a new device may not complete, and a device-timeout error message may be generated.
CAUSE
An unintended side effect of a fix for HP G-series printers that was made in Windows 2000 SP2 results in the Dot4.sys driver not reading policy and timeout information from the registry.
