BUG: Metabase Changes Lost If IIS Restarted via Application Center Snap-in (309380)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Application Center 2000
This article was previously published under Q309380 SYMPTOMS
Metabase changes are not kept across restarts of Internet Information Server (IIS) if IIS is restarted through the Application Center Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
CAUSE
Restarting IIS from the Application Center snap-in causes IIS to be "killed" as opposed to shut down in orderly fashion. This causes any metabase changes to be lost.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. RESOLUTIONTo avoid
this problem, use one of the following methods to stop and start the IIS services: - Use the net stop command, and use the net start command.
- Stop and start the IIS services from the MMC Services snap-in.
