Error Message: Error Locating Object Handler (309300)

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps.

Step 1: Remove the Registry Entries

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

1. Quit all running programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
4. Expand the following registry subkey:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension

5. On the Registry menu, click Export Registry File.
6. In the File name box, type Extension, and then click Save.
7. Right-click Extension and then on the shortcut menu that appears, click Delete.
8. On the Confirm Key Delete message that appears, click Yes.
9. Expand the following registry subkey:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\MIME

10. On the Registry menu, click Export Registry File.
11. In the File name box, type MIME, and then click Save.
12. Right-click MIME, and then click Delete on the shortcut menu that appears.
13. On the Confirm Key Delete message that appears, click Yes.
14. On the Registry menu, click Exit.

Step 2: Remove Internet Explorer Plug-in Files

Remove the files from the Microsoft Internet Explorer Plug-ins folder. To do this, follow these steps.

NOTE: The files are stored in the following folder by default:

1. Start Windows Explorer, and then navigate to the following location, where drive is the drive on which Windows is installed:

   drive:\Programs Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins.

2. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
3. On the File menu, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm the removal of the files.
4. Quit Windows Explorer, and then restart the computer.
