SYMPTOMS

When you use the Web Scheduler to schedule a meeting, you may receive the following error message:

The Exchange Conferencing Service encountered a server error. Please try the following:
Contact your system administrator. Sending the message Error #80040E19: Unable to schedule the specified conference. Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you invite a resource whose display name is different than the logon name.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, type the same name in the Display Name and Logon Name boxes when you create the resource mailbox.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2.
